We’re off to the shoe show again…

We’re headed back to the Atlanta Shoe Market this weekend on our biannual trip to search for more styles in big sizes. We’ll be meeting with our existing brands, trying to convince them to make even more styles in bigger sizes. We’ll also be walking the show floor looking for new brands. Know of a brand that makes large shoes (to at least size 17)? Let us know! Reply or post a comment to our Facebook page and we’ll try to find them.

Save Big While We’re Gone

While we’re gone, use coupon code ShoeShow at checkout to save $10 off your order of $75 or more on our website. Buy a lot of shoes, we need to make room for a lot of new Spring styles coming in right now!

We Want Your Feedback

While we’re at the shoe show this weekend, we’ll be posting photos and questions to our Facebook page and Twitter about new styles and brands. We would love your feedback, so please Like our page or follow us and let us know what you think about everything we find.

Water Shoe to Size 18 is Finally Here

This Malibu water shoe was custom made for us in our BIG sizes. We’ve had many requests for a water shoe over the years and we are finally able to deliver one to you. Big feet shouldn’t keep you from water play or water sports – enjoy and play on. And at only $24.95, it’s an excellent value.

New Improved Closeouts Page

Closeouts are styles we aren’t going to continue selling, such as last season styles. They are heavily discounted and once they’re gone, they’re gone. We’ve completely reorganized our Closeouts page to make it easier to find shoes in your size. Simply click your size at the top and you’ll instantly be taken to a list of closeouts available in that size. We’ll be working hard to keep the page up to date and accurate.

Winter Weather Impacting Order Processing Times

The winter storm hitting the Southeast right now is impacting our ability to ship orders. UPS has sent notices that they will not be picking up or moving packages today, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 or Thursday, February 13, 2014 due to inclement weather conditions.

As a safety precaution for our employees, we have closed our warehouse and distribution center today. We will reevaluate the weather conditions tomorrow.

We are still answering phones, and our website is fully-functional. All orders received will be processed normally, but will not ship out until UPS and USPS are resuming operations.

See UPS message below for more information.

Winter Weather Impacting Deliveries in the Southeast

UPS is being impacted by the major winter storm that is bringing snow, freezing rain and sleet to the southeastern U.S. including areas of Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. While we have contingency plans in place to ensure the safety of our employees and to minimize the weather’s impact on pickups and deliveries, you can expect service delays due to this winter weather.

Check ups.com for the latest information on service delays (including a list of ZIP codes where no pickups or deliveries are being made today) and to track the status of your packages.

To receive information on your packages via email or text, use the Request Status Updates feature when tracking your shipment’s progress on ups.com. Simply track your shipment and select Request Status Updates to be notified when the status of your package has changed.

For impact to UPS Freight pickups and deliveries, visit UPS Freight. As always, UPS is committed to making every effort to provide service to areas where conditions permit safe access.

Please note that the UPS Service Guarantee does not apply when transportation networks are disrupted due to conditions beyond UPS’s control.

Thank you for your patience as we weather this storm. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for being a customer of 2BigFeet!

Large Shoes for Restaurant Employees

large restaurant shoes

What are the best shoes for working in a restaurant? We get that question all the time, so we’ve created a page on our website to specifically feature the best options of non-slip and slip-resistant footwear for restaurant employees.

Large Size Restaurant Shoes

We have a lot of slip-resistant shoes on our website, but there are different types of soles. Restaurant workers spend most of their day on slick floors made of linoleum, concrete or tile. When water, grease or oil spills on these slick floors, even shoes labeled “non-slip”  will slip and could lead to a fall, mostly because their soles were designed for wear outside and they have very little of the sole making contact with the actual floor.

The solution is a sole made of soft rubber with most of it’s surface area touching the floor. Below are the soles of two of the shoes on the Restaurant Shoes page.

If you work in a restaurant and need good non-slip shoes, check out one of the pages below, and get the best possible shoes for your job.

Going up a shoe size (or two) to get more width

Brannock Device to Measure Shoe Size

It’s a question we get asked a lot…if I need more room in width can’t I just go up a size? It is true that longer length shoes also have wider widths, however I do not advise you to overcompensate length to get to your needed width.

We’ve taken the Brannock device, the large metal device we would have you stand on if you were in our store, and converted it to an online measuring tool so that we can assist you with sizing no matter the distance between us. This chart is best used if you follow our very specific instructions. For example, you should be standing up, full weight-bearing, on a piece of paper(s), wearing socks of medium thickness, while someone else marks the edges of your feet for you. You then use a tape measure to measure those markings – be specific to the 16th of an inch. Our Brannock goes to size 25, you won’t find this is most shoe stores.

Now, once you have your measurements you’re ready for our size chart. Please note this size chart is 2-dimensional meaning it only considers your flat length and flat width. Your feet are not 2-dimensional and if other issues come into play such as edema, diabetes, swelling, etc. you may also want to measure your instep girth and call us with those measurements. We can plug your length, girth, and width into a program to help determine your size. For swelling issues that will usually mean the recommendation will switch to Boxer Dogs, our therapeutic line of multi-depth shoes.

Now let’s assume your measurements are 13″ long and 5 1/8″ wide so you’re a size 17 2E. You, however, want a shoe that comes in D widths only so you’re thinking you could just get an 18D and see how that works. Now, I’m not going to discourage you completely from trying it if you want, that’s your decision. I do however advise you that yes, you can get a little more width by sizing up, however now you have added length that you don’t need. Wearing a shoe that is too long for you may result in heel slippage and blisters.

My best advice is that you get the best shoe to fit the feet you have. That may mean you need a 17 6E to accommodate girth and limits your options. That may mean you can’t wear a New Balance Classic, or an Allen Edmonds dress shoe, but we’re only given two feet in this lifetime. Your two feet are your foundation, take care of them, you’re going to need them to keep you upright and fully supported for your entire lifetime.
